I was going to go with tree stump.
I agree with the tree-stump guess, but I think it's a petrified tree-stump, millions of years old (or something).
Looks like a painting to me.
looks a bit glacial, but some of the other marks don't look right. I'm gonna vote for Matthew's terrified stump.

I think that is a wooden table. Could be desk, chiair, etc.
