The Secret Garden

This is cool. Grok, the band that I am in, has been asked (yep, they came to us, we didn't even lobby for it) to play at a live music festival. I am in a little bit of shock about this. I mean, we've only played before a live audience twice, we don't have any songs, and we practice maybe twice a month if we're lucky. We seem to have fallen ass-backwards into a gig that most bands would fight tooth-and-nail to get a hold of.

Er, not that I don't think we're worthy. We kick ass.

Anyway the Secret Garden Party sounds awesome. Superior to your run-of-the-mill festival-in-a-field because it's held in a loverly garden with trees and a lake and ducks and things (check out some of the photos from last year, it looks great) but also because tickets are limited to 5000 so it's more about the music than getting stood on by millennial hordes.

It's from August 18th to August 20th, you have to come for the whole time, and it looks great. And tickets are limited so get yours now, I say!

Looks excellent... they even have pinball machines!! I'm checking my diary right now...

There's a festival in Ireland in June called The Garden Party and for a split second there I thought that was the one you were talking about. There's an outside chance I might make it over though.

Brilliant news though! Have a great time, and hey, at least you've got a few months to write some songs. :-)

We write our songs on the spot.

Good work fella

Do you get backstage privlages?

And if not, do you think you'll get any backstage privileges instead?

I've no idea to be honest- we don't even know if we get free tickets, yet.

Surely you dont have to pay to gig?

If anyone's seen the Tenacious D tv series, there's one hilarious bit where they have to pay to gig.

It's not unheard of. You don't become famous for free. Not most of the time anyway.

I honestly don't know if we'll have to pay- one would hope not, but if they cap tickets at 5000, and there are 100 bands with 3-5 people in them, well, that's a lot of tickets.

BTW Dan - where IS the secret garden? I had a look on the site, but found nada. Better find out before August I guess...

Psst Moosefetcher... I think the clue is in the question.

Um, yeah, but we'll have to know where to go at some point. Dan said he'd seen photos from last year's, is all. Is it at the same place? But then I'm the drummer and they don't tell me nuffin'.
