Holy crap

YOGA INSTRUCTOR: "Daniel, your spine is not flat against the wall, can you push it out a bit?"

ME: "No, this is as far as it goes. I've always had a pretty sharply curved spine."

YOGA INSTRUCTOR: "Wow, that's a really severe curve."

ME: "Yeah, I think it's genetic, my dad and one of my brothers has the same thing."

YOGA INSTRUCTOR: "That's okay, we can fix that."

ME [joking]: "Cool, will that make me taller?"

YOGA INSTRUCTOR [serious]: "Yes."

ME ["zoinks"-style double-take]

This is, like, great news. It's so simple I never even thought about it. I have got quite an intensely arched back. If I can straighten it out, I'll be like, two inches taller.

Now, I'm 5'6". The average height of the British female is 5'8" (don't even get me started on Scandanavian women). Statistically, this differential puts like, 66% of all women out of my league, heightwise. I'm left with a meager third. A lovely, short, third, but still, they're not exactly betting odds.

Now, if I gain two inches via Yoga/Pilates spine manipulation, that'll take me to 5'8", right to the feminine average. This will make around 55% of women < my height. That's like, a 22% gain. That's brilliant. I go from being in the lower percentiles to the upper ones. It's like going from the regionals to the finals.

Now, the average British shelf height is....

So you be more women like then??

I'm missing the point, aren't I...

You are, Gordon. Think of all the shelves that are now within my reach that weren't previously. Shopping will be, like, a whole new thing.

i'm still a little unclear as to how this instructor is going to un-curve your spine, is she an orthapedic surgeon??

i'm a little dubious...

yoga, or orthopedics for beginners?

Uncurving your spine will change you man ... for one it'll ruin your skiing stance.

Actually, I've heard of bodies regenerating themselves via Yoga from like, two separate sources, both of whom are pretty reliable. Not saying I believe it myself, but it's not unheard of.

I know plenty of tallies who ski. They fall over a lot (tallies = fallies), but I'm sure my supreme skill will prevent THAT from happening, yuk yuk.
