Is there such thing as a "Common Law Marriage?"

From: AQA [63336]

There is such a thing as a Common Law Marriage. The term is used to describe both a lawful marriage and the domestic partnership of two individuals.

Ah-ha! AQA bites the big one. This Q&A, sent in by an alert reader, highlights a common misconception regarding the "common law marriage myth", which apparently 61% of the British populace buy into. It turns out that Common Law Marriage was ceased definitively with the passing of the Marriage Act in 1753.

To AQA's credit, they apologised for their incorrect answer and offered to refund the charge! They rule the school.
